The Dirty Dozen

This is one way I can save money and my family's health. I feel like we eat more fruits and veggies since we started eating mostly organic, locally grown, and fresh produce. They taste better to us and our weight does not fluctuate as much. Here is a list I found and use when I shop!!! I know it's expensive to buy organic but I have found that it is cheaper at farmer's markets and smaller health food stores like Trader Joe's and Fresh & Easy!

Organic Dirty Dozen
A simulation of thousands of consumers eating high and low pesticide diets shows that people can lower their pesticide exposure by 90 percent by avoiding the top twelve most contaminated fruits and vegetables and eating the least contaminated instead. Eating the 12 most contaminated fruits and vegetables, on average, will expose a person to nearly 20 pesticides per day. Eating the 12 least contaminatefd will expose a person to a fraction over two pesticides per day. With that in mind, the Environmental Working Group brings us their list of the most contaminated (the dirty dozen!) and least contaminated fruits and vegetables out there.
